Is it not amazing that every single thing we see around us was once an idea? Take a quick look around you.
Some time ago, all the things you see did not exist.
Where did they come from? They came from minds. They came from a place where they weren’t visible to the naked eye and now we can see and touch them. That is incredible.
When you think about it, it is almost as though there is a world where everything that has ever been and will ever be exists. And only a small fraction of what is in that world gets safely imported into the visible world. So that the things our eyes behold in this world are only shadows of what there truly are.
It is a widely accepted fact
It is not just one fanciful idea. Maya Angelou once said, “A solitary fantasy can transform a million realities”. If a fantasy, a thought, a daydream or an idea can transform a million things in the actual world, then which is realer? The fantasy or the ‘realities’?
The Bible also lends credence to this idea when it says in 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV), “we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Biblically, the prescribed approach to life is to not live based on the things we see, but rather what is hoped for (that we don’t see). “For we live by faith not by sight”-2 Corinthians 5:7
Science’s added voice
Scientific studies have proven that how we see the world is not an accurate picture of what actually exists. For the most part, the human brain only ‘guesses’ what we see based on what it thinks we should see.
So for one, the things our eyes behold in this world are only shadows of what there are in the world. And in addition, the things in the world are shadows compared to what truly exists in the ‘invisible world’.
It means, everything we see to be our realities in life are not actually real. Essentially, the real things in this life are not the things we see around us, but the things in the ‘imaginary world’ they come from.
By that principle, ideas (for instance) are real and the inventions that are made from those ideas are only reflections of those ideas. The idea is real and the invention, just a reflection of it.
How that should influence your life
The things you see around you are not real! It is about time you started focusing inside you. It is high time you stopped allowing circumstances determine the outcome of your life. The real real things are the thoughts, ambitions, ideas and capabilities inside you!
Maybe you had big boundless dreams when you were young but as you grew, you dropped them gradually because you had to face ‘reality’. Far from it! Those childhood ‘imaginary’ imaginations are the real things!
The life you imagine is very real and very possible. The famous Pablo Picasso once said, everything you can imagine is real. It is true.
Fix your eyes on the things that are not seen. fix your eyes on the things God has put on your heart to do. Don’t be controlled by what you see; they are fake. Be ruled by what you can’t see, they are real!
