Have you also heard before that true Christian life is a difficult journey? Well, as widespread as this notion is, it is in error. If you have truly found the right way, living for God is inexplicably relieving.
True is it, and undeniable also, that if you are a follower of Christ, you shall face persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). But that does not connote that if you do not follow Christ, you will be free from such stern oppositions.
“Persecution” is just the Biblical term for suffering opposition for the sake of the gospel. Life with or without Christ still comes with a lot of torture. If you live for Christ, however, God helps you through the most-difficult circumstances.
He abides with you through the water and the fire (Isaiah 43:2), He remains an ever present help for you in times of need (Psalm 46:1), He never leaves nor forsakes you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
That is not all. You obtain healing by His stripes (Isaiah 53:5), you possess the knack of carrying the whole godhead inside you (John 14:23), you are empowered to trample over snakes and scorpions (Luke 10:19) and so much more!
These are all absent, if you live in the world and under the influence of the devil. He is able to afflict you at his will and put you through the meanest life situations. Even when the world tries to be loving to you, (John 15:19), it is actually a deception meant for greater doom.
That is why Jesus said at Matthew 11:29-30 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me…and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”
Do not fear undertaking the duties of God or committing fully to His ways, with thoughts that it might have a toll on you. When the Bible said at Matthew 7:13-14 that the broad way leads to destruction and the narrow way to life, it did not convey any impression that the narrow way was more difficult to tread.
Even with logic, the road that many people are taking is obviously much broader than that which few people are on. The narrow way is straight, leads to God directly, and is more fulfilling to travel than the broad way. Only that those who have found it are few.
You shall find it, if you truly desire an intimate relationship with God, and to follow His will for your life. From there, let that desire cause you to pray, to understand God through His Word and to do His will unfailingly. You will realize that His yoke is truly easy, and His burden light indeed.
